TALKS
Fresh Voices
As part of our digital programme for 2021 Fresh Voices we are delighted to welcome four sets of speakers who have shared their experiences of participatory research - as researchers and participants. During our 2021 digital programme we will be watching these talks as a community and reflecting upon how they can guide our own research practice. Explore this page to learn more about our incredible speakers and see some of our virtual talks!
TALK 1
The McPin Foundation - Dr Thomas Kabir and Katrina Brooks
Our first termly talk was held at UCL in the Spring Term. We were delighted to welcome Dr Thomas Kabir (@ThomasKabir) and Katrina Brooks (www.kattysterritory.com) from the McPin foundation. Thomas and Rachel shared their experiences of setting up Right People, Right Questions - the McPin Foundation's Young Person's Advisory Group. Right People, Right Questions was a project aiming to identify gaps in research on children and young people’s mental health, as identified by children and young people, parents, teachers, mental health and social work professionals, and researchers. They produced a list of the Top 10 most important questions not conclusively answered by research which are now informing research priorities in Young People's Mental Health research in the UK.

Annette shared her journey of discovering the story of the black, female missionary Rose Grenfell.
Annette has produced a video about her experience working on the Windrush Strikes Back project (watch above) that you can watch here and we also recommend watching her video about the missionary Rose Grenfell (watch below).
