Last week we thought a bit about leaving the field: this week Mindy talks about supporting opting out. What ways can we scaffold opting out within PAR research to normalise it and alleviate pressures around that choice? How are we responsible for making that space?

As ever - keep the chat going but just to say that Prompt 4 is now up in the Forum.
I will say I had small moments of fear re: making opting out so central to my ethical approach. I always believed in it, but did worry a bit that I would end up with 'not enough' data. I got a bunch of consent forms back right at the very end of one of my fieldwork sites 😅
Yesssss great question! PAR is much more involved for the participants that more traditional research methods and I would imagine there may be a sense of 'guilt' if participants step away. I think that this is an important aspect of the scene setting - to set those norms from the outset. I don't have direct experience to share from my research - does anyone here?
