Cinthya discusses the durational aspect of setting up PAR research collectives - gathering the collective, building trust, ongoing support and needs (meeting every 2-4 weeks), commitment to the community, running a 7 week process to develop questions and ethical contributions.
How do we as PAR researchers plan this in, honour this time commitment? In what ways do we make sure this isn't just "going through the motions" but is an authentic commitment, that makes useful contributions to the communities we work with?
The third prompt is up on the forum, so head on over if/when you are ready!
@Eva Sprecher [mod]That's a great observation - I think one thing that I've been thinking about in the pandemic is why I'm going to things/how I am committed to causes. Perhaps I wouldn't have spent time reflecting on this as much if life had continued at it's faster pace, so I'm hoping to bring some of this reflexivity in activism with me going forwards!
Such an interesting question - I think that a lot of this should happen through building authentic relationships with research participants and stakeholders. I think if people find themselves just attending things to tick a box then it's easy to not feel motivated in the same way as if you are part of synergistic, mutual relationships.
